Stupid TSA Agents

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics in 2017 the mean annual pay for TSA agents (Transportation Security Administration agents... airport security) is $19.31 per hour,
They should be paid $7.25 per hour, the current Federal minimum wage. 
     The question then arises, Just HOW in the world did such ignorant, uninformed, ill-mannered, poorly-educated, rude, poorly-trained, obnoxious and power-hungry people (that is, STUPID people!) ever become employees of the federal government with responsibility for the safety of America’s transportation system?
