Home Air Conditioning Maintenance

     It's been hot off and on for this part of the country (temps in the upper 80s and low 90s) which means our air conditioner has been getting a workout. 
    The HVAC technician was here the other day for routine yearly maintenance and all was working well, but he noted the air conditioner's capacitor is testing at the lower end of its rated capacity (it should be within 6 percent of the rating on the capacitor). That means it may or may not last the summer. In any case, it will need to be replaced at some point. 
    The capacitor was replaced in July, 2019.  He advised that capacitors don't often go bad, but in this case our A/C is sitting directly in the hot sun and the elevated temperatures can speed up deterioration.
