On Monday, December 29, 2025, Lake Erie and land in the vicinity experienced winds that could have blown the hair off a dog. The result was that a rare seiche occurred on the lake.
Strong winds exceeding 60 mph pushed the water to one end of the lake, resembling a giant bathtub sloshing effect. This rare event caused waves up to 20 feet high, creating hazardous conditions and exposing the lake bed in many areas. VIEW news report.
