    Abreva for Cold Sores

Cold sores, also called fever blisters, are a common viral infection. As a child I remember having had cold sores, but a couple of weeks ago for the first time in decades one showed up.
There are a number of home remedies available. In my case, soaking it down regularly with camphor spirits worked quite well, but it took about four days for the thing to disappear.
I felt another one coming on a week or two later and this time I tried Abreva.  The stuff was a miracle! But, it must be used at the first sign; if you wait it may be too late.
Abreva is pretty expensive...$15-20 for a small pump that puts out a little more than you need causing some waste. However, if you are VERY careful you can get a tiny dab which is all it takes. You smear the stuff on the area 4-5 times a day. There was improvement in one day.  Highly recommended!
