This program is a handy and user-friendly file recovery program in
case you accidently delete a file. It not only can recover files from
computers but also USB drives, MP3 players and memory cards from
cameras.
Select the type of file you want to recover (photos, emails, videos,
etc.) and where it's likely to be (recycle bin, on a media card,
etc.), run Recuva and when it's done you'll see a list of files that
can be recovered. Select the one you want and that's it. Just
remember, sometimes scans can be slow and results
are NOT guaranteed.
A couple of reviewers I read complained because it didn't work...and
it won't all the time, especially if the file has been deleted for a
while. But, the sooner you perform the recovery operation, the
greater the chance of success. That's because every time you write
to the hard drive, you lower the likelihood of a successful recovery.
So when you realize you just deleted something by mistake, the best
thing to do is use the computer as little as possible until the files
are recovered.
A good article to read appeared in PC World titled How to Recover (Almost) Anything. Just remember that even if you follow all the
steps in the article, there are no guarantees.
